Little Italy
Neighborhood boundaries:
Harbor Drive to the west,
Front Street to the east,
Ash Street to the south,
and Laurel Street to the north.
Little Italy has a rich history reflected in its traditional commercial district on India Street and a historic relationship to the northern waterfront. A close-nit community of Italian immigrants gave Little Italy its ethnic heritage, but the neighborhood’s history as home to the tuna fisherman and their families as well as decades of working class residents reinforces Little Italy’s cohesiveness.
